Repot a root-bound plant
Moving up one pot size, not several, gives the roots room to grow without leaving so much extra soil that it stays wet too long.

Steps
- 1. Choose a new pot only 1 to 2 inches larger in diameter than the current one.
- 2. Gently loosen circling roots around the outside of the root ball before repotting.
- 3. Water thoroughly after repotting and keep the plant out of direct sun for a few days while it adjusts.
